Local Electronics Recycling Event Scheduled for Mid-May

Mark your calendar now for Saturday, May 19th, a golden opportunity to get rid of clutter in your home, help the planet and collect tax credits for the year. On that day, East St. Louis and Columbia residents will be able to drop off their old, unwanted electronics-related items like TVs, VCRs, computers and even dead batteries.

In addition, you can finally rid your garage of worn out appliances, phones, holiday decorations and lights, audio/video equipment and more. Other acceptable items include:

  • Business/Office Equipment and Machinery
  • Clocks
  • Stereos
  • Cameras
  • Computer Software and Hardware
  • Dishwashers
  • Blenders
  • Furnaces
  • Toasters
  • Hot Water Heaters
  • Irons
  • Home Medical Equipment
  • Washers and Dryers
  • Car Batteries
  • Industrial Machinery
  • Power Supplies
  • Lawnmowers
  • Electrical Equipment
  • Tillers
  • Transformers
  • Tools
  • Old Motors
  • Air Conditioners
  • Humidifiers
  • Refrigerators

This is a great chance to unload all those electronics-related things that have been haunting your spare room, tool shed and back yard. You’ve been wanting to but didn’t know where to bring them. Now you have a place to drop them off where they’ll be safely disposed of without negatively impacting the environment.

Be aware that certain items cannot be included in this campaign:

  • Tires
  • Industrial or Household Chemicals
  • Paint Cans
  • Paint
  • Wood Furniture
  • Any Wood products

All donations are tax deductible for your 2012 taxes. This recycling event may be your only opportunity this year to finally clear up some valuable space in your garage. Don’t miss it!
