Recycle Your Used Electronics, Batteries with City of Columbia

It’s that time of year again! Many of you are already well into your spring cleaning and are getting rid of all the extra stuff collected over the past year. But what about that old TV or VCR sitting in the corner taking up space and collecting dust? Broken washers and dryers and outdated computers equipment? Of course you don’t want to throw them in the garbage and fill up the landfill – recycle them! We told you about this great event last month, and it’s almost time for this recycling event to finally happen this weekend.

The Department of Public works will be accepting used home electronics, appliances and batteries on May 19th for recycling! Just bring your items to the Department of Public Works parking lot at 110 W. Sand Bank Road, Columbia, IL 62236 between 10AM and 4PM and they’ll take care of the rest! Keep your home clean and help us keep our beautiful Columbia, IL communities green!

Be sure to check out the official City of Columbia site for additional information about the event and a list of what can and can’t be recycled.
